about

Inspired by B-movie soundtracks and classic video game scores, 'To the Gates' is intended to be a fictional fantasy video game soundtrack from the hoary NES console days of yore (late 80's/early 90's). Those blocky 8-bit titles and their attendant soundtracks will always hold a special place in my heart, and wasted countless hours of my young life.

Individual tracks follow a rough imagined storyline arc from start to finish; the listener fills in the rest of the details. An homage to influential Japanese composers for early video game consoles, such as Nobuo Uematsu, Koji Kondo, and Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka.

All tracks written and recorded over about a week in the Summer of 2004, on a crappy Casio keyboard I won in a low stakes raffle at Goodwill.
